Solution-focused hypnotherapy in North Leeds, or online

Sometimes you know something needs to change, even if you’re not quite sure how to make that change happen.

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck in patterns that no longer help you. Perhaps your confidence has taken a knock, sleep has become difficult, or you simply don’t feel quite like yourself.

At Oakwood Hypnotherapy Clinic, I offer a warm, practical and non-judgemental space to help you understand what’s happening and begin moving towards how you would like things to be.

How hypnotherapy may help

Solution-focused hypnotherapy may be helpful for:

• Anxiety, stress and overwhelm

• Confidence and self-esteem

• Sleep difficulties

• Habits and unwanted behaviours

• Fears and phobias

• Performance and motivation

• Midlife and menopause

• Feeling calmer and more in control

Rather than focusing heavily on the past, we focus primarily on where you are now, where you would like to be, and the small, achievable changes that can help you move forward.

A practical approach to change.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy combines talking therapy with hypnosis and draws on our understanding of how the brain responds to stress, habits and patterns of thinking.

Hypnosis is a focused state of attention that many people experience as deeply relaxing. You remain aware and in control throughout. You won’t be asleep, and you can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to do

My role isn’t to fix you.

It’s to work alongside you, helping you recognise your own strengths and resources and create the conditions for change.

What to expect

We’ll begin with an initial consultation where we can talk about what’s brought you to hypnotherapy, what you’d like to be different, and whether this approach feels right for you.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is designed to be relatively brief. Everyone is different, but many people attend around 8–12 sessions, depending on what they would like support with.

Appointments are available in person in North Leeds or online.

About

I’m Vicky. I practise solution-focused hypnotherapy and am currently completing my professional training, working under clinical supervision.

My background is in social work and senior leadership, supporting people through change, challenge and difficult periods in their lives. I’m also a qualified yoga teacher, and my interest in how our minds and bodies respond to stress has shaped the way I work.

Oakwood Hypnotherapy Clinic is intended to feel professional without feeling clinical — somewhere you can feel comfortable, understood and able to be yourself.

Things can be different.

How can hypnotherapy help?

Anxiety and stress

Anxiety can show up in lots of different ways — racing thoughts, overthinking, physical tension, feeling constantly on alert or simply finding it difficult to switch off.

We’ll explore what happens in the brain under stress and use hypnotherapy to help you move towards feeling calmer, more in control and better able to respond to everyday life.

Low mood

When we’re feeling low, it can become harder to do the very things that help us feel better.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy gently shifts the focus towards what’s working, helping you reconnect with your strengths and take manageable steps towards feeling more like yourself again.

Anger and emotional overwhelm

Feeling irritable, reactive or overwhelmed can sometimes be a sign that our stress levels have become too high.

By reducing overall stress and creating more space between what happens and how you respond, hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer and respond more intentionally.

Sleep

When our minds are busy, sleep is often one of the first things to be affected.

Hypnotherapy can encourage deep relaxation and help quieten some of the mental activity that makes it difficult to switch off, while supporting healthier sleep patterns.

Confidence and self-esteem

Confidence can be knocked by experiences, changes in our lives or simply by the way we’ve learned to think about ourselves.

Through our work together, we can begin to move away from unhelpful patterns of thinking and towards a calmer, more confident way of approaching situations that have felt difficult.

Habits and unwanted behaviours

Sometimes we continue doing something even when we consciously want to stop.

Hypnotherapy can help you work with patterns that have become automatic, making it easier to move towards choices and behaviours that fit better with how you want to live.

Fears and phobias

Phobias can feel incredibly powerful, even when logically we know that the level of fear doesn’t match the actual danger.

Hypnotherapy works with that automatic response, helping the brain to respond differently to the trigger rather than immediately moving into fear.

Specific phobias can often be worked with over 2–4 sessions.

Midlife and menopause

Midlife can bring changes that affect how we feel in ways we may not have expected: changes in sleep, confidence, anxiety, concentration or mood, or simply a sense of not quite feeling like yourself.

Hypnotherapy can support you through this period of change, helping to reduce stress, build confidence and develop practical ways of feeling calmer and more in control as you navigate what comes next.

Performance and motivation

Whether it’s work, study, sport, public speaking or another personal goal, sometimes our own thoughts become the biggest obstacle.

Hypnotherapy can support focus, confidence and motivation, helping you approach challenges with greater calm and clarity.

Weight management

Hypnotherapy isn’t a diet and it doesn’t rely on restriction.

Instead, we can work with the thoughts, habits and behaviours around food, motivation and well being, helping you develop changes that feel realistic, supportive and sustainable in everyday life.

Smoking cessation

Hypnotherapy can be used to support people who are ready to stop smoking.

Smoking cessation is approached slightly differently from ongoing solution-focused sessions. For some people, one focused session may be enough, while others may benefit from a second session to reinforce the change.

Persistent pain

Hypnotherapy may also be helpful alongside appropriate medical care for people living with persistent pain.

This isn’t about suggesting that your pain isn’t real. Instead, we work with relaxation, stress and the way the brain processes and responds to ongoing discomfort, with the aim of helping you manage your experience of pain more effectively.

Is hypnotherapy right for you?

Is hypnotherapy right for you?

You don’t need to know exactly what you need before getting in touch.

If something is getting in the way of how you want to feel, live or move forward, we can start with a conversation. I’ll explain how I work, you can tell me what’s been happening for you, and together we can decide whether hypnotherapy feels like the right next step.
